Passwords are an essential part of SharedTree security. Keeping your password and account away from other people ensures that not only your own personal information stays private but also that of your close relatives.

What if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, then enter your email address in the Login screen and click Send New Password. We will generate a new password and send it to the email address you entered. Once you use the new password, your old one will no longer work.
If you do not receive the new password, then check your email's spam filters.

Why do I have to generate a new password?
Your password is encrypted and not even a SharedTree system administrator can retrieve it. If you forget your password, we will create a new one for you.
